I am currently the Director of Retirement Benefit Programs for Highmark Health and the Allegheny Health Network. I am accountable for designing, developing and consulting on various benefit strategies including defined benefit, defined contribution and non-qualified programs. My key responsibilities include: • Evaluating and benchmarking current benefit programs to determine competitive posture and develop unique recommendations and cost effective solutions to support the Total Rewards philosophy • Directing program design, policies and practices that ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local law/regulations • Evaluating and making recommendations for program administration solutions that achieve the business objectives on an ongoing basis • Developing employee/participant communications strategies to maximize the value of the programs I was previously a principal and senior retirement actuarial consultant in the Retirement practice of Mercer (US) Inc.’s Pittsburgh office, consulting for both qualified and non-qualified retirement plans in such areas as plan design, funding, expense, forecasting, mergers and acquisitions and workforce reductions. I was also an area expert in defined benefit pension plan terminations and part of Mercer’s Technical Center of Excellence. Prior to joining Mercer, I was a director and consulting actuary in the Retirement Practice at Buck Consultants. There, I was lead consultant, actuary and team leader of a group of actuarial consultants and associates servicing large and small clients in a variety of industries. I also led recruiting efforts for actuarial interns and new associates and managed workflow and training for interns and new associates in the office. Prior to that, I was a high school math teacher. A summa cum laude graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and Bachelor of Science in education, I graduated from the Duquesne University. I am an Enrolled Actuary under ERISA, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries and an Associate of the Society of Actuaries.
